Born in Anderson, SC, he was a son of Mrs. Sarah Martin Jones and the late Oren Oscar Jones. Mr. Jones held a Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Carolina and received a Master's Degree from the University of Georgia. Ren had many interests, a very strong passion for life and he was truly a friend to all. He was an avid golfer and loved the beach. There could be no greater fan of the Carolina Gamecocks than Ren Jones. As one with an entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Jones had several professional interests. He owned and operated an earth shoe store as well as a learning center in Columbia. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work. In addition to his mother, Mrs. Sarah Martin Jones, those left to carry on Ren's legacy include 2 sons Fraser Jones of Georgetown, SC and Shane Jones of Garden City; 2 daughters, Jessica Jones of Charleston, SC and Anna Jones of Georgetown; a brother, W. Stephen Jones and his wife, Shannon, of Anderson; a sister Nancy Jones Sutton and her husband, Lacy, of Columbia; a special cousin, Carol J. Tanner of Columbia, and numerous loving and devoted nieces and nephews. By his family and many friends, Ren will be sorely missed. A graveside service celebrating Ren's life will be held Monday, May 28, 2012, at 2:30 PM at Old Silver Book Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Sinclair Lewis officiating. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Sarah Jones, 312 Kingsley Road, Anderson, and will receive friends following the service at Old Silver Brook.
