OSCAR AIKEN June 24, 1927 - August 21, 2008ANDERSON, SCMr. Oscar Floyd Aiken, age 81, of 415 Azalea Drive, husband of the late Frances Bratcher Aiken, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson, SC on June 24, 1927, Mr. Aiken was a son of the late Henry Neill Aiken and Minnie B. Orr Aiken. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran and a life member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge where he was also a life Mason. He retired from Southern Bell with 29 years of service and was an expert craftsman who enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Aiken was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.Survivors include his daughters, Ann Hughes and her husband, Larry, and Patty Shedd and her husband, Donald, all of Anderson; brother, Roy E. Aiken of Union; sister, Louise Heaton of Anderson; special niece; Delores Cromer; and special nephew, Keith Cromer; and cousin, Genelle Aiken of Norfolk, VA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Brian Keith Hughes, Debra Leann Worley, and Myra E. Osterbuhr; and six great-grandchildren, Brady L. Hughes, Charles A.Hughes, Jessica L. Borders, Kassandra Osterbuhr, Madalyn Osterbuhr, and Grant Osterbuhr. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Dr. Ray Grant and Reverend Danny Keen. Interment will follow with Military Honors and Masonic Rites at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday.
