LEMERENOVEMBER 20, 1928 - AuguST 19, 2009TOWNVILLE, SC ' Otis Delbert Lemere, age 80, resident of 13571 West Oak Highway, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.Born in New Marlborough, MA, on November 20, 1928, he was a son of the late Jules Joseph Lemere and Anna Bellar Lemere. Mr. Lemere retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-one years of service. He received the rank of Technical-Sergeant and was also a boom & radio operator. During his military career, he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. In later years he also retired from Murphree Tire Company. He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville. Mr. Lemere was an avid baseball fan that mostly enjoyed the New York Yankees. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Skelton Lemere of the home; sisters: Bernece Ramsay of Barkhamsted, CT, Shirley Murray of Lagrangeville, NY, and Margaret Kessler of Canaan, CT; brothers: Pete Lemere of Poteet, TX, Robert Lemere of Torrington, CT, and Lee White of Becket, MA; and sister-in-law, Kay Skelton of Townville, SC. In addition, his beloved Shetland Sheep dog, 'Megan', survives him.A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2009, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend David Blizzard and the Reverend David Walters. Concluding the Memorial Service, Military Honors will be performed by the United States Air Force.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.A family committal service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009, in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Oakdale Baptist Church, 6724 Highway 24, Townville, SC 29689, or to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.THE McDOUGALD FUNERAL HOME is in charge of the funeral arrangements
