IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Sexton
Penninger
April 3, 1948 – September 19, 2025
On Friday, September 19, 2025, Patricia Sexton Penninger passed away while her daughter, Kim, and good friend Carla held her hands at Rainey Hospice House.
Patricia was born in Iva, SC and was a daughter of the late Vera Sexton Carter and the late Levis T. Sexton. Her brother, Gene A. Neese and sister Mildred E. Sullivan preceded Patricia in death. In 2020, Patricia lost her husband, Victor Durwood Penninger, after 45 years of marriage.
She grew up on a farm and spent most hours of the day outside in the country. There she learned a solid work ethic, responsibility, and resourcefulness. Patricia loved horseback riding and acquired respect for all animals. She could fix anything, solve all sorts of problems, and was an exceptional seamstress. Patricia spent time RV'ing with Durwood, Kim, and Katelyn or heading to the next car show. A passion of Durwood's that she enjoyed. Patricia loved countless things and lived life with zest and gusto. Her greatest treasures were her family. Durwood, Kim, and Katelyn were her existence. She will be sorely missed, but the love she shared will be forever a part of their hearts.
Patricia leaves behind her best friend and daughter, Kim Penninger; her partner in crime, best shopping buddy and loving granddaughter, Katelyn Ann Kincaid; mother-in-law, Martha Sue Parks; sister-in-law, Dianne Manning (Bill) and her family; special niece, Susan Lynn, who visited almost daily; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A gathering of friends and family to visit and share wonderful stories will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm. The service to honor Patricia's life will follow at 2:30 pm at the Chapel of the McDougald Funeral Home with Michael Rippy officiating. Patricia will then be placed by her dear Durwood at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the residence.
