Patricia Young, age 86, of Iva, SC, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023, at her residence. Born April 14, 1937, in Lowndesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Reese Parnell and Carrie (Dooley) Parnell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Eugene Young; brothers, Bill Parnell, Luke Parnell, Curtis Parnell, Charlton Parnell, and Reese Parnell; sisters, Ethel Loftis and Cathleen Burris. Patricia retired from education as a learning center coordinator for the state of Georgia. Her career allowed her to assist children with special needs. Prior to working in education, she practiced cosmetology. She was a devout member of Lowndesville Baptist and previously Southside Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. She also traveled on mission trips as a member of Tom Cox World Ministries to Russia, Ukraine, and Peru. During her free time, she enjoyed fishing. She is survived by a daughter, Tamala "Tammy" Young Goodin (Terry); sons, Carlos E. Young (Barbara) of Evans, GA and Gary Young (Glenda) of New Ellentown, SC; sisters, Claudine Jordan, of Iva, SC, and Debbie Erb, of Grovetown, GA; grandchildren, Travis Young, Dustin Young, Tyler Goodin, Zachary Goodin, Brandon Young, Carla Parker, Allie Wall, Emma Young, and Dockery Young; 13 great-grandchildren; and special friend Patty Sisk Whitaker. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at Lowndesville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:30, with Dr. Fred Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Iva City Cemetery.
