Patty Jones, age 72, of Anderson, SC, passed away at her residence on Franklin St. following a brief illness on Friday, September 25, 2015. Born Patty Elizabeth O'Doherty in Florence, SC, on January 15, 1943, she was the only child of the late Mary Kate Keefe O'Doherty and the late John Keys O'Doherty. Patty's childhood was filled with a world of travel from Alaska to Switzerland. She graduated from Cushing Academy in 1960, and then enrolled at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, where she met Arnold Wayne Jones. They married on August 21, 1962. They had two children: Kelley Peyton Jones (Ashcraft), b. July 18, 1963, in Williamsburg, VA and Arnold Wayne Jones Jr., b. May 26, 1965, in Columbus, GA. Patty and Arnold settled in Northern Virginia where Arnold taught in the Fairfax County Public Schools. Patty graduated from W&M, worked as an elementary teacher's assistant, as well as full-time for the city of Alexandria. In 1992, Patty and Arnold moved to Anderson. She was an involved wife, mother and grandmother, generous with her time and counsel. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Arnold, age 74; a daughter, Kelley, age 52, of Duncan, SC; son, Arnold Jr., age 50, of Dallas; four grandchildren; granddaughters, Morgan, age 24, and Peyton, age 23; and grandsons Keefe, age 18, and Mac, age 16.
