Paul M. "Pete" McCollum, age 85, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at Rainey Hospice House. Born May 8, 1936, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Paul Washington McCollum and Lula Fowler McCollum. Pete was a 1955 graduate of Boys High, a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass with 35 years of service to the company. He loved to golf and travel with his wife and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for many years. Pete was a very active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. He had many friends and was known and loved for the kindness he showed to others. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Meredith McCollum; daughter, Lisa McCollum Bates (David); grandchildren, Meredith Bates Smith (Jason), and Jared Bates (Ashlea); great grandchildren, Aislyn Smith, Davis Smith, and Ainsley Bates; and sister, Jimmie Holden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy McCollum Rimarski; brothers, Don R. McCollum and James D. McCollum; and sisters, Dorothy Pruitt, Earle Gibson, Guynell Gulley, Eleanor Norris. The family will receive friends Friday, April 8, 2022, from 6:00-7:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
