IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy Ransom
Hickman
July 18, 1932 – November 13, 2025
Peggy Ransom Hickman, age 93, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at home.
Born July 18, 1932, in Anderson County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Charles Newton Ransom and Mary Patterson Ransom. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carrol Wayne Hickman; a daughter, Carolyn Day; and two sisters, Juanita Coffee and Grace Dove.
Peggy was a dedicated cosmetician, who took pride in her work and shared her passion for beauty with everyone she met. Known for her vibrant personality and genuine warmth, she was never one to meet a stranger and had a remarkable ability to engage in conversation, captivating those around her with her sweet nature and undeniable charm. Despite her gentle demeanor, she ruled her household with an iron fist, a testament to her strength and unwavering principles.
A woman of style, Peggy always dressed to the nines and took great pride in her appearance. She had a keen eye for fashion and enjoyed shopping, relishing the opportunity to showcase her distinctive sense of self. She was an excellent cook and was particularly famous for her biscuits and gravy.
Peggy's love language was the care she provided to others. Her nurturing spirit shone through her actions and words. She was a longtime member of the West Anderson Church of God, attending services every Sunday, where her faith and dedication to her community thrived. She also found joy in watching her favorite televangelist, Tommy Bates, immersing herself in his messages.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Peggy's primary caregivers, Juan and Shanon Vasquez, and Sherry Carroll for all the love and care provided.
She is survived by her son, Don Hickman (Cheryl); and daughters, Sherry Carroll, Joan Dickerson, Debbie Lindley, and Sadie Hickman Vassey (Dylan). She was affectionately called "Maw Maw" by her beloved 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Daniel officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will speak with guests following the committal at the cemetery.
