*PLACE OF SERVICE CHANGED TO FUNERAL HOME* Peter (Pete) Dewey Beard, age 67, of Anderson, SC unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from an aneurysm. He was a loving father and a wonderful provider for his family. Surviving are his daughters, Kristina Corbett (Joel) and Michelle Shaw (Randy); three grandsons, Joshua Shaw, Thomas Shaw and Lucas Shaw. Also, his mother, Doris Beard and his former wife of 26 years, Annette Beard, all of Anderson, SC. Pete was born in Germany and came to the United States with his mother as a six-year-old and was adopted by William D. Beard. His father was an American soldier. He became a naturalized citizen in 1968. He grew up in Augusta, GA, and worked 20 years for the Spartan Mills Corporation. First, at the John P. King plant in Augusta, GA; and then, at the corporate office in Spartanburg, SC. He worked in the I.T. field. He worked for BASF I.T. department in Anderson SC from 1985-2000. Later he worked in Greenville, SC for a company that changed names several times and the last name change was Concentix. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, April 23, 2018, at The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Kurt Stutler of South Main Chapel Mercy Center officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge #5850, Greenville, SC 29601.
