PHIL SINGLETON Charles Phillip "Phil" Singleton, age 72, of 703 College Avenue, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson on April 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles Kenneth Singleton who is MIA from WW II, the late Frances King Hamilton; and the late H. G. "Bo" Hamilton. Following graduation from Boys High School, Class of 1961, Mr. Singleton attended University of South Carolina, graduating with a Business Degree. He was an avid fan of all University of South Carolina Gamecock sports. While attending Anderson Boy's High School, he played football on the state championship team and was selected as a half-back on the All-State Team. He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. As an adult he coached many little league teams, to include football and baseball. Mr. Singleton was co-owner of Pickens Oil Company for twenty-six years and later, President of Anderson Trucking Company. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of thirty-three years, Caroline Grubbs Singleton of the residence; four sons, Charles Kenneth Singleton, II, and his wife, Lori Ann, of Anderson, James David Singleton and his wife, Sherry, of San Diego, CA, Max B. Singleton and his wife, Stacee, of Greer, SC, and James P. Lever and his wife, Mira, of Myrtle Beach, SC; two daughters, Sarah V. Long and her husband, Hal, of Greenville, and Margaret Leanne Campbell of Anderson; a brother, Stacy Lee Hamilton, Sr. and his wife, Harriet, of Anderson; also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. A Funeral Service to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. Phil Singleton will be held at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at 3 p.m., with Rev. J. E. Palmer officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Phil may be made to The Haven of Rest, 219 W.
