Obituary

PHILIP A. IANNONE April 30, 1937 - September 7, 2012 Philip Anthony Iannone, age 75, of 611 Lamar Mitchell Road, Belton, passed away at the Rainey Hospice House on Friday, September 7, 2012, following a 10 year battle with cancer. Born in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Lodovico Iannone and the late Clara Belle Kendall Iannone. He was the devoted and loving husband of JoAnn Ellis Iannone of the residence for over 54 years. Mr. Iannone attended Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL, and he proudly served his country in the US Navy in the Lighter than Air Division. He retired from Ingles in 2000 after 24 years in various managerial roles. Prior to his work with Ingles, he was associated with Winn Dixie in Jacksonville, FL for a period of 12 years. Philip was active in "Man to Man," a prostate cancer awareness group, and the Naval Airship Society. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Mr. Iannone was a people person who cared about others. He was blessed with many friends who loved and respected him. Philip always looked for and found the best in everyone he met. He always looked forward to Sunday afternoon drives in the country with his wife, JoAnn. He enjoyed cooking for his family and he loved his pets very much. Aviation was his passion and fishing was his hobby. Left to carry on his legacy in addition to his wife, JoAnn, is his son, Brian Anthony Iannone of Honea Path, SC; a daughter Clara Iannone Miller of Easley; a sister, Catherine C. Reichart of Pensacola, FL; 6 grandchildren, Anthony, Nicolas, and Thomas Miller, and Erin, Emma, and Lilly Iannone. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends there on Monday, September 10, 2012, from 4 PM until 7 PM. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Mr. Iannone be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or to Anderson County P.A.W.S., 1320 Highway 29 South, Anderson, SC 29626.
