Phillip Lane Hawkins, age 74, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House. Born September 28, 1948, in Anderson, he was a son of the late Claude Mattison Hawkins and Annie Caroline Martin Hawkins. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Hawkins. Phillip was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He is survived by his son Charles Mattison Hawkins and his wife Meighan; brothers, George Allen Hawkins and Frank Hawkins; sister, Claudinna Hawkins Todd; and grandchildren, Connor Charles Hawkins and Christopher Lane Hawkins. A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 12:00 pm at Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Murdock and Dr. Clarence Adkins officiating. The family will host a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall where refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rainey Hospices House, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621 or the charity of one's choice.
