Preston Joye Anderson, SC Preston Legrand Joye, Sr., age 70, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Florence County, SC, on February 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Marvin L. Joye and the late Dula Mae Tindell Joye. Preston served in the South Carolina National Guard and was a board member for the KURE Foundation. He played for numerous softball teams in Anderson and later umpired local softball teams and became a sanctioned umpire for fast pitch college girls softball teams. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He began his career, working as a police officer for the City of Anderson, later becoming a state probation officer for South Carolina and finally retired with the Anderson County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission, with 31 years in the Alcohol Safety Action Program. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Dolores Griffin Joye; his loving children, Legrand Joye, of Anderson, and Tina Joye Dohrendorf, and her husband Ingo, of Anderson; a brother-in-law, Dwain Griffin and his wife Janet of Morgantown, WV; a sister, Mildred Joye Stalvey and her husband Wayne of Athens, GA; and five grandchildren, Garek Dohrendorf, Micah Joye, Cameron Joye, Guner Dohrendorf, and Emily Joye. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 1, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to KURE Foundation Inc.
