Rachel Carey Eaton, age 89, formerly of Iva, SC, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Ellenburg Nursing Center. Born in Franklin, GA, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel Carey and the late Rosa Lee Hart Carey. She worked in the textile industry for many years and retired from Iva Manufacturing after 20 years of service to them. She was a member of Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Howard "Pete" Eaton, Jr. and his wife Vickie, of Iva, SC, Peggy Elgin and her husband Perry, of Belton, SC, Barbara Dunford and her husband Kelly, of Starr, SC, and Sharon Green, of Anderson, SC; brothers, William Carey, of Bowman, GA and Sam Carey, of Winder, GA; a sister, Ella Mae Hanks, of Starr, SC; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Eaton; daughters, Margie Ann Morrison, Jennie Ruth Hayes, and Sandra Gail Gaines; brothers, Billy Carey and Robert Carey; sisters, Bertha Lee Green, Cordell Carey, Mary Timms, and Margaret Byrum; and a granddaughter, Rachel Leigh Green. The Graveside Service will be held at Iva City Cemetery on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Charles Howell officiating.
