Born in Donalds, SC, he was the son of the late James Howitt and Nellie Hill Saxon. He was Methodist by faith and a past Mason. Survivors are his widow, Mozelle Yeargin Saxon of the home, daughters; Joyce S. Simpson of Anderson, SC, Kate S. Johnson of Haynesville, LA, and 1 son, Phillip Boyd Saxon of Starr, SC. Grandchildren, Charles A. Simpson, Ami J. Garrett, Kyle W. Johnson, J. Matthew Saxon and Caleb L. Saxon; 5 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, March 29, 2014.
