He was a United States Army veteran and retired from General Telephone in Wilmington, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgena Rose Metcalf Smith of the home; daughters, Pamela Lynn Johnson and her husband, Dennis of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Ann Cole and her husband, Garry of Mill Valley, CA; son, Jeffrey Wilson Smith of Tryon, NC; brother, Philip Harry Smith; sister, Jacobine Olive Engle; three grandchildren, Oakly Wilson Smith, Curtis Wilson Johnson, and Jordan Jerome Cole; step-granddaughters, Dennisha Ke'aire Haynes and Willow Rose Miller and four step great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Albert F. Smith, Jr.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Charles Brookshire. Interment will follow in Ruhamah United Methodist Church Cemetery.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm.
