Thamer Randy Yates, age 72, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center in Elberton, GA.
Born January 2, 1953, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Thamer Calhoun Yates and Dorothy Thompson Yates. He was also preceded in death by one great grandchild.
Randy's work as a machinist at Plastic Omnium for many years defined much of his professional career. An avid sports enthusiast, he found joy in athletics throughout his life, playing baseball in Little League, and as the years progressed, becoming active in local softball leagues. His love for competition and camaraderie carried on as he embraced golf, bowling, and motorcycle riding, where he forged lasting friendships and made memories that will be treasured forever.Randy was known for his friendly disposition and gift for storytelling. He had an innate ability to draw people in with his warmth and humor, often becoming the life of the party. He also had a passion for reading and studying the Bible which reflected his deep faith and beliefs.
He was a devoted family man who took great joy in spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his daughters, Angela Pardue (Donnie) and April Jones (Roger) both of Anderson; sisters, Brenda McKee (Dennis) and Freda Burdette (Steve) both of Anderson; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren with one on the way.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Pastor David Hudgens officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
