Ray Donald Wardlaw, Sr., of 157 Lynn Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2013, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Piedmont, SC, he was the son of the late Christopher Columbus "Peach" Wardlaw and the late Lula Janelle Gambrell Wardlaw. He attended Belton Public Schools. Ray proudly served his country in the Army Reserves and Standby serving 4 years. He was formerly employed with D&M Services and retired from McAllister's Heating and Air as a heating and air conditioning mechanical engineer. He was a member of Belmont Church of God of Prophecy. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Wardlaw; a son, Ray Donald "Donnie" Wardlaw, Jr. and his wife Debbie, of Anderson, SC; a daughter, Sheila Henry and her husband Brian, of Iva, SC; three brothers, Vincent, Dexter and Gary Wardlaw; a sister, Miss Faye Wardlaw; four grandchildren, Christy Wardlaw Rhodes and her husband Justin, Dillon Ray Wardlaw, Marc Henry and Jonathan Henry; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rhodes and Callie Rhodes; and his beloved pet, Pixie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Wendell Dean Wardlaw; a granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Wardlaw; four brothers and two sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Rhodes and Sister JoAnn Marett officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
