Obituary

RAYFORD NORMAN DEANHARDT ANDERSON, SC Rayford Norman Deanhardt, age 81, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Melvin Deanhardt and the late Ellen Wilson Deanhardt. He was a graduate of Boys High. Rayford proudly served his country in the 2nd Infantry Division of the United States Army as a Staff Sargent during the Korean War, earning the bronze star and the purple heart. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas. He was of the Methodist Faith. He is survived by his loving wife, Miriam Patterson Deanhardt; three daughters, Sheila Martin and her husband James, Rhonda Dillingham and her husband David and Tonya Yon and her husband Patrick; a brother, Neal Deanhardt and his wife Lenor; two sisters, Carolyn Kernals and her husband Bobby and Imogene Wilson and her husband Jimmy; one sister-in-law, Anita Deanhardt; eight grandchildren, Corey Scott and his wife Kelli, Jason Scott and his wife Jenna, Michelle Dillingham, Krystal Dillingham, Taylor D. Aiken and spouse Taylor B., Ellen Yon, Abby Yon and Sally Ray Yon; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Deanhardt. The Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Bost officiating. The family will be at the home, 108 Sundowner Blvd, Anderson, SC 29626 and will receive friends at the home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Young Memorial ARP Church, 508 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
