Raymond Harold Gilbert, age 84, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House. Born January 7, 1938, in Anderson, he was a son of the late Clarence Gilbert and Elizabeth Chastain Gilbert. He was married to the late Evelyn Celeste Gilbert. Raymond was also preceded in death by his siblings, Edward Gilbert, Wallace Gilbert, Katherine Dukes, and Genelia Gilbert. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Raymond enjoyed softball, baseball and watching western movies. He loved his family dearly and had a special affection for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His pets Misty and Charlotte were his devoted companions. He is survived by his sons, Joel Gilbert (Cheri) and Brad Gilbert; daughter, Lynn Wood; six grandchildren, Courtney, Heather, Jordan, Miranda, Caleb, and Megan; and four great grandchildren, Brianna, Ruby, Baylee, and Lane. The family will receive friends Monday, August 29, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at their respective homes.
