Obituary

Raymond Norman Harbaugh, of Starr, SC, passed away on November 25, 2024, in Anderson, SC, just shy of his 80th birthday.

Ray was born December 4, 1944, in Everett, Bedford Co., PA. He was the son of the late Edward Lee and Anna Grace Aurand Harbaugh. He married Carolyn Pringle on February 8, 1975, in Franklin, PA.

Ray was a 1962 graduate of Franklin High School, Franklin, PA. He enlisted in the U.S. Army later that year and was with the 68th Engineer Co., Thompkins Barracks, Schwetzinger, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1965 with the rank of Specialist 4th Class.

Ray was a fabricating machinist and expeditor with Joy Manufacturing Company, Franklin, PA, retiring in 2006 after a 30-year career. He was a proud union member and served as a Union Steward and Union Committeeman in the shop for many years.

Ray was a member of the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department and was Fire Police while with them.

Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life. He was in several local B.A.S.S. clubs while living in Pennsylvania. After moving to South Carolina, he enjoyed trapping wild hogs with his friends.

Along with his wife, Ray is survived by his daughter, Sonya (Barry) Mullen of Franklin, PA; son, DeWayne (Michelle) Harbaugh of Clarion, PA; grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Kuhn of Franklin, PA, Becca Mullen (Tyler Kasunich) of Warren, PA, Andrew (Lexi) Harbaugh of Clarion, PA, and Abby (Sarah) Harbaugh of Slippery Rock, PA; and great grandchildren, Kyle & Nora Kuhn and Eli & Grayson Harbaugh.

Ray is also survived by his brother, Edward Harbaugh of Frederick, Maryland.

Along with Ray's parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard, Donald, Gary and also an infant sister, Virginia Marie.

In following with Ray's wishes, there will be no viewing or services held. His ashes will be scattered in his favorite places.
