RAYMOND HUGHES July 10, 1917 - January 20, 2006ANDERSON, SCMr. Raymond Franklin Hughes, age 88, husband of Mertie Magaha Hughes of 231 Whiten Road, Anderson, SC, died Friday, January 20, 2006 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Anderson County, SC on July 10, 1917, Mr. Hughes was a son of the late Walter Robert Hughes and Nellie Bailey Hughes. He was a retired farmer and self-employed painter. He was a member of Triangle Baptist Church in Belton where he was a member of the Glad Tiding Sunday School class and served on the Board of Deacons. He was a volunteer for the Rock Spring Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mertie Magaha Hughes of the home; sons, Charles Hughes and his wife, Peggy and Herman Hughes, all of Anderson, SC; a daughter, Frances Adams of Anderson, SC; a sister, Sarah Wheeler, Anderson, SC and three grandchildren, Timothy Hughes and his wife, Cindy; Mark Adams and Tommy Adams, all of Anderson, SC.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Tucker Hughes and two brothers, Cecil Hughes and Williams Hughes.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Wendell Bannister and the Reverend Bobby Burriss. Interment will follow in Neal's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Anderson, SCThe family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 21, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the home of his son, Charles Hughes, 227 Whiten Road, Anderson, SC.Flowers are optional.
