Pawleys Island, SC ' Mr. Raymond Aaron Shipley, age 92, died May 27, 2006. He had been a resident in the Assisted Living section of The Lakes at Litchfield in Pawleys Island for the last 17 months. Raymond was born on April 30, 1914 in Disko, Indiana, the youngest son of Aaron Zimmerman Shipley and Anna Marie Shipley. He was educated in the Indiana Public Schools and he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps after graduation. During World War II he served in England, France, and Germany and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Returning from World War II Ray went back to work at P. R. Mallory's in Indianapolis, IN. He moved up the corporate ladder from Manufacturing Division Night Superintendent to many positions in the Personnel Department, including Capacitor Personnel Manager in Greencastle, IN and also Superintendent Electronic Timer Company, Elwood, IN. He retired after 35 years of service, and moved with his wife to Anderson, SC. Mr. Shipley was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Rose E. Shipley. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, RADM and Mrs. Grady L. Jackson, U. S. Navy (Ret) of Pawleys Island, SC; a grandson and his wife Daniel and Julie Lyderson-Jackson of Seattle, WA.; a granddaughter and her husband, Chris and Neil MacBride of Arlington, VA; and four great grandchildren, Ruby Lyderson-Jackson and Duncan, Charlotte, and Alistair MacBride.
