DECEMBER 11, 1954 - SEPTEMBER 4, 2013 ANDERSON, SC Raymond Allen Tate, Jr., age 58, husband of Loralyn Smith Tate, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Raymond A. Tate, Sr. and Betty Tannery Tate. Ray graduated in 1979 from the University of South Carolina earning a Bachelor's Degree and in 1983 earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina, School of Law. Ray practiced law in Anderson, SC as a partner with the Doyle, Tate and McDade Law Firm. Ray was a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Gamecock Club and was an avid supporter of the Anderson Free Clinic. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Molly Tate Gunter and her husband, Paul "Rocky" Gunter and their son, Mason Davis Gunter, all of Lexington, SC; step-daughter, Candice Smith of New Orleans, LA; sister, Kathryn Vasser; aunt, Kathryn Nichols of Surfside Beach, SC; and cousins, Deborah N. Hunt and her husband David of Virginia, Daniel L. Nichols of Clemson, SC and Stephen A. Nichols of Surfside Beach, SC. A Celebration of the Life of Raymond A. Tate, Jr. will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
