Reba Elizabeth Gilmer Hester, age 85, formerly of Iva, passed away on November 29, 2015 at Brown Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Abbeville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Gilmer and the late Mabel Ethridge Gilmer. For 44 years she was the loving wife of Hubert L. Hester until his death in 1996. She retired from Jackson Mill after 50 years of service. She was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God. Her passion for ministry was serving in the nursery and the children's department. She is survived by her children, Andy Hester and his wife Janice of Anderson; Angie Miller and her husband Marion of Lavonia, GA and Anita Wiles of Anderson; a brother, Robert E. Gilmer of Greenwood; a sister, Elaine Duncan and her husband, Pastor Eddie Duncan of Whitmire, SC; seven grandchildren, Jarrett Miller and his wife Hazel, Brett Miller and his fianc, Kaitlin Jones, Adam Wiles and his wife Laurie, Jim Wiles, Andrea Evans and her husband Jonathan, Amy Hester and Drew Hester and his fianc, Stephanie McClain; and six great-grandchildren, Luke and Ethan Evans, Maddox Hester, Calla and Ellis Wiles, and Poppy Miller. The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Iva City Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Duncan officiating. The family will be at the home of her son, Andy, 90 Palm Branch Way, Anderson and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home prior to the service, on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
