Reba Nadine Purdy, age 87, of Iva, SC, passed away peacefully Friday, April 5, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born January 1, 1937, in Rock Branch, GA, she was a daughter of the late Willie Anderson Fields and the late Evie Campbell Fields. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Purdy; and siblings, Furman Fields, Billy Fields, Marshall Fields, Florence Clark, and Louise Ferguson.

Mrs. Purdy worked in textiles much of her life. Being one of eight children, she learned early on the value of work and how to care for others. She was a soldier for her family, always supporting her children, grands, great grands, and friends. Mrs. Purdy was very creative and artistic. She loved to write short stories and poems and enjoyed creating beautiful flower arrangements that she shared. She could make anyone laugh with her delightful sense of humor. Even up to her last day on earth, she smiled and told funny stories with her sister and other family members. Mrs. Purdy was a loving person and poured herself into making a better life for everyone.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Purdy; sons, Lamar Purdy (Linda) and Marty Purdy (Ronda); daughter, Glenda Adams; eight grandchildren: four great-grandchildren; sister, Johnnie Sue Taylor; and brother, Odell Fields.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 8, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 11:00 am in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Walters and Marty Purdy will officiate. Burial will follow at South Lawn Memorial Gardens where she will lay to rest beside her beloved son, Larry.
