Rebecca (Becky) Martin Browder, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Clemson Downs. Born in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Baylis Martin and the late Emmaline Whitaker Martin. Becky was a faithful member of Pendleton United Methodist Church (PUMC). She was a graduate of Pendleton High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC. Her professional career extended from managing hotels to banking, though her favorite job was her many years of service, as a Poll Manager, with the Election Board of Anderson County. She loved volunteering and was a regular volunteer with the Peeps program at PUMC and the Christian Learning Centers of the Upstate. She was an avid fitness lover and was known for her jogs around the pecan grove as well as regular workouts at Coop's Gym in Anderson. She loved to play bridge and played with several clubs and friends in the community. She also volunteered with the Walker McElmoyle Fire Department Ladies' Auxillary. She is survived by her sons, Jay F. Browder (Kimberly), and Jeffrey M. Browder (Barbara); and her brother, Dr. John B. Martin, Jr., grandchildren Preston Browder (Katie), Noah Browder (Lauren), Shannon Sherman (Daniel), Lauren Hopkins (JD), three Great Grandchildren, and many beloved Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jay Donald Browder; a son, Gregory D. Browder; her brother, Dr. Henry C. Martin; and her sisters, Sarah (Peg) Porter, Doris Wright, and Eleanor Ross. The Funeral Service will be held at Pendleton United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Melton Arant officiating. A private family committal will take place following the funeral service. The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Browder and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, January 21, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peeps Afterschool Scholarship or to Christian Learning Centers, in care of Pendleton United Methodist Church, P.O.
