Rev. Dr. Ralph T. Bowling, Jr., age 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 22, 2018 at his home, with his family by his side. Born March 12, 1939, in Honea Path, SC, he was a son of the late Ralph T. Bowling, Sr. and Ruth M. Duke Bowling. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Davis Bowling and his brother, Rev. Dr. Douglas Arthur Bowling. He was a United Methodist Church Pastor for many years and a member of SC Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He also served as a South Carolina State Guard Chaplain. Dr. Bowling is survived by his loving wife, Sharon L. Bowling of the home; sons, Rev. Ralph Truman Bowling, III (Karen Tanner-Bowling) of Prosperity, SC and Mark Asbury Bowling (Elena Aizcorbe) Rock Island, IL; brothers, Joseph Benjamin Bowling of Lyman, SC, Dennis Oscar Bowling of Pensacola, FL and Edward Duke Bowling of Lexington, SC; four grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Bowling-Hutto (Jason) of Melbourne, FL, Megan Noel Bowling Greer (Curtis) of Liberty, SC, Jared Robert Bowling of Atlanta, GA, and Taylor Ashley Bowling of Travelers Rest, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Alexa Elizabeth Marie Hutto and Ralyn Ahna Greer. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday, October 25, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Teasley officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family has requested that clergy and spouses serve as honorary escorts and to assemble at the church by 1:30 pm Friday. Clergy members are to wear black robes and white stoles.
