Rev. William P. Clyde, age 92, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2017 at the Martha Franks Retirement Community. Born on August 25, 1925, in Kemper, SC, he was the son of the late William Edgar Clyde and the late Lila Bertha Childress Clyde. For 68 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Nelle Balliew Clyde until her death earlier this year. He received his Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. During the many years of his ministry, he served as pastor of the Stephen Green Baptist Church, Allendale First Baptist Church, and the Lexington Baptist Church. He was Director of Missions for the Santee Baptist Association in Sumter, the Union Association in Union, the Saluda Baptist Association in Anderson, and the Woodruff Baptist Association in Woodruff. Rev. Clyde is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Clyde Barbeauld and her husband Rob, of Alpharetta, GA; and a sister, Vernelle Clyde Hooks of Nichols, SC. In addition to his parents, and his wife Nelle, Rev. Clyde was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E. and Dean S. Clyde; and a sister, Sarah Clyde Hilton. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Rev. William Clyde will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Rasor Chapel at Martha Franks Retirement Community in Laurens, with the Reverend Dr. Lawton Neely officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories, Belton, SC. The family will receive friends at the McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson, on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. They will also receive friends on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Rasor Chapel at Martha Franks Retirement Community from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Contributions in memory of Rev.
