Rev. Dr. Ronald David Daves, age 61, of Columbia, passed away at Lexington County Medical Center on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Although he lost his hard fought four year battle with cancer, he won the ultimate victory of life over death as he entered into everlasting eternal life with his Heavenly Father. For forty-one years, Dr. Daves was the loving and devoted husband of Karen Kay Stevenson Daves. Born on November 22, 1954, in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Jeanette Kirk Daves of Bourbon, MO, and the late Marvin F. Daves. Rev. Daves is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, with the Doctorate of Ministry degree. He was a Baptist Minister for over 31 years, his most recent pastorate being at South Lexington Baptist Church in Lexington, SC. Over these many years in ministry, Dr. Daves served as Pastor of numerous churches within the State of South Carolina. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring antique cars. In addition to his wife, Karen, Ron is survived by a son, Ronnie Daves, Jr. and his wife, Brandi, of Crestview, FL; a daughter, Sandi Sellers and her husband, Weldon, of Anderson; a brother, Kenny Daves of Bourbon, MO; a sister, Sandy Unger and her husband, Wayne, of Elgin, IL; and six grandsons, Andrew, Aaron, Alex, and Adam Sellers; and Logan and Landon Daves. In addition to his father, Dr. Daves was preceded in death by a son, Michael Franklin Daves; a daughter, Christina Michelle Daves; and three brothers, Rick, Greg, and Brian Daves. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Rev. Dr. Ronald D. Daves will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Varennes Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. David Shivar and Rev. Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
