ANDERSON, SC REV. GAINES W. BROWN Rev. Gaines W. Brown, age 89, of 1003 West Shockley Ferry Road, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 05, 2014. Born on June 8, 1924, in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Clarence W. Brown and the late Mary Epps Brown. He was the devoted husband of Clara Stowe Brown. Rev. Brown was owner of Brown's Used Cars for 30 years. He was a very active member of Little Holiness Church of God as long as health would permit. His most enjoyable pastime was fishing. Rev. Brown was a graduate of Cleveland Bible College in Cleveland, TN. In addition to his wife, Clara Stowe Brown of the home, he is survived by 4 sons, Milton Brown and wife, Gale, and Terry Brown, both of Belton, Ted Brown and wife, Pat, of Anderson, and Rev. John Brown and wife, Diane, of Pickens; 4 daughters, Margaret Brown, Cheryl Erskine, and Ann Mitchell, all of Belton, and Heather Lambert and husband, Aaron, of Moody AFB, Valdosta, GA; 2 brothers, J. B. Brown and wife, Jane, and Harrison Brown and wife Pat, both of Anderson; 2 sisters, Katherine Blackstock of Summerville, SC and Caroline Graham of Anderson; also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. Mr. Brown also leaves behind a step-son, A. J. Smith and wife, Christy, of Townville; 3 step-daughters, Suzy Winne White and husband David of Carnesville, GA, Angelique Smith of Anderson, and Gail Rogers and husband, Darren, of Anderson; and 3 loving sisters-in-law, Barbara Stowe Brooks of Commerce, GA, Mary Jane Stowe Hart of Royston, GA, and Frances Stowe Brooks of Easley. In addition to his parents, Rev. Brown was preceded in death by 2 sons, Willis and Ricky Brown; a grandson, Brian Brown; a brother, Norman Brown; a sister, Jewell Fowler; a son-in law, Paul Winnie; and 3 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express its thanks to the staff of Interim Hospice for the love and excellent care given to Rev. Brown during his illness. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Bishop Michael A. Jenkins, Mr. Ryan Winne, and Rev. John Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories, Belton. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 11:00 AM until 12:30 pm. Contributions in memory of Rev. Gaines W.
