Rev. Samuel Edgar Edwards (Ret. USAF MSgt), 86, of Anderson, SC passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House. Born June 13, 1931, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Stephen Leroy Edwards and the late Frances Elizabeth Purgason Edwards Freeman. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Brady Freeman. Samuel was a graduate of American International College, University of South Carolina and Clemson University. He retired after 21 years of service as a master sergeant from the United States Air Force. After his military career, he then was an account executive for 28 years with Ivan Allen Company in Atlanta, GA. He then became a minister for 15 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Martha Joan "Jo" Brooks Edwards, son, Stephen L. Edwards (Dottie) of Marietta, SC; daughter, Donna Lynne Bannister of Powdersville, SC; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, January 22, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Dr. Kirt Mitchell and Rev. Furman Martin officiating. Interment will follow in M.J. 'Dolly' Cooper Veteran's Cemetery.
