Estridge, Sr.
January 27, 1945 – May 16, 2024
Born January 27, 1945, in Kershaw, SC, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Estridge and Ruby Lee Campbell Estridge. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby L. Estridge and Lanny B. Estridge and brothers-in-law, Glenn Payne and Gene Baker.
A graduate of Kershaw High School, North Greenville Junior College and Furman University, Rev. Estridge received his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He dedicated himself to the Lord's work for 55 years. Remaining steadfast in his ministry, he served as pastor of Lowry's Baptist Church, Chester County, SC, Beaverdam Baptist Church, Fair Play, SC, Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Anderson, SC and retiring as Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Iva, SC in 2018. He also served his country as chaplain in the United States Army. Rev. Estridge loved living on Estridge Farms with his family. He enjoyed eating hot dogs, french fries, drinking Dr. Pepper and spending time with his special four-legged companion, Sammi.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Gloria Croxton Estridge; sons, Roger "Rodge" M. Estridge, Jr. and Roy Wilson Estridge; sister, Natalie Payne of Clemson, SC; step-brother, Dr. Rusty Faulkenberry and his wife, Dixie, of Taylorsville, NC; sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Baker of Kershaw, SC, Carolyn Estridge of Rock Hill, SC and Sandra Estridge of Cincinnati, OH; brother-in-law, Col. Roy D. Croxton, Jr. and his wife, Judi, of Kershaw, SC; number one cousin, Carol Phillips of Kershaw, SC; honorary son and daughter, Mike and Jennifer Christenbury of Starr, SC; honorary grandchildren, Graylyn Christenbury and his wife, Brianna, Kaitlyn Rhodes her husband, Philip, and Amberlyn Christenbury, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to their loving and caring neighbors and friends, Randy and Susan Pettigrew, Danny and Susan Wilson, Tommy and Jean Marie Whitaker and Charles and Janie Fairchild.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the First Baptist Church of Iva. The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 3 pm at the church with the Rev. Jerry Gray and the Rev. Dr. Paul Pinson officiating. Burial will follow at Iva City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iva First Baptist Church Building Fund.
