Thomas David Sustar, age 78, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at his home. Born August 25, 1943, in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late Henry David Sustar and Emma Louise Stilwell Sustar. Rev. Sustar devoted his life to full-time ministry for the past 60 years. He served in many areas during his ministry including, pastor, State Evangelism Director, State Youth Director, and both the Assistant International Director and International Director of the Youth and Discipleship Department for the Church of God. Rev. Sustar was formerly the President of East Coast Bible College in Charlotte, NC, and was the author of numerous books and articles. He was a talented trumpet player and singer and has preached the gospel to thousands around the world. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Phyllis Marie Gosnell Sustar; son, Rev. Christopher David Sustar (Leah); daughter, Sonya Renee Taylor (Rev. Scott); brother, Charles Sustar; grandchildren, Jaren Sustar (Mary Beth), Evan Sustar (Elizabeth), Ryan Taylor, and Reece Taylor; and four great grandsons with one on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Sustar. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 3:00 pm at High Praises Church with Rev. Chris Sustar and Rev. Scott Taylor officiating. A private interment will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00-2:45 pm.
