COX June 19, 1943 - May 16, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Reverend Larry G. Cox, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Laurens, SC he was the son of the late Broadus Cox and the late Willie Mae Walls Cox. Reverend Cox was a Pastor for 39 years at many churches, including, Rocky River Baptist in Iva, SC, Flat Shoals Baptist in Hartwell, GA, Flat Rock Baptist, Anderson, SC, Pleasant Hill Baptist, Greer, SC and was currently senior pastor of Homeland Park Baptist in Anderson, SC. He was the founder of Cross Ministries and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia Cox; daughters, Susan Guy and her husband Ed of Abbeville, SC, and Terri Shaw of Anderson, SC; an adopted son, Mark Tomlin and his wife, Elaine of Hartwell, GA; brothers, Lindell Cox and his wife Joyce and Gerald Cox and his wife Joyce all of Anderson, SC, and Elmer, Robert, Smiley, and Roscoe Powell all of Iva, SC; sisters, Sara Timms of Honea Path, SC, Margaret Craft of Elberton, GA; sister in law, Betty Cox of Anderson, SC; eight grandchildren, Courtney and Josh Malone of Anderson, SC, Ben, JonDavid and Morgan Manning, and Evan, Ean and Elyse Guy all of Abbeville, SC. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step-mother, Bertha Lee Cox; a brother, Winford Cox; sisters, Annie Ruth Brown and Virginia Whitman; and a son-in-law, Scott Shaw. The Funeral Service to honor the life of Reverend Cox will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Homeland Park Baptist Church with Reverend Curtis Bundy and Reverend Craig Neill officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The Deacons of Homeland Park Baptist Church will serve as the honorary escort. The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 5:30pm until 8:30pm at The McDougald Funeral Home.
