The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, SC 29621864-224-4343OBITUARY WILLIAM HOYT SORROW October 25, 1928 - April 25, 2008ANDERSON, SCReverend William Hoyt Sorrow, age 79, husband of Trannie Whitlock Sorrow of 102 Pine Bark Drive, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Calhoun Falls, SC on October 25, 1928, Reverend Sorrow was a son of the late Francis Hoyt Sorrow and Inez Boggs Sorrow. He attended Holmes Theological Seminary and was a retired pastor. Among the churches he served as pastor were Landrum Pentecostal Holiness Church, Gum Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, Newberry Pentecostal Holiness Church, and Orrville Pentecostal Holiness Church. He also served as Conference Evangelism Director of the Upper South Carolina Pentecostal Holiness Church.Survivors include his wife, Trannie of the home; son, Daniel Hoyt Sorrow and wife, Laurie of Elloree, SC; daughter, Joyce Williamson and husband, Henry of Dillard, GA; two grandchildren, Hank and Hannah Williamson; siblings, J. C. Sorrow and wife, Claudine of Greenwood, SC, Betty Ann Berry and husband, Ray of Greenville, SC, Lander Sorrow and wife, Faye, and Benjamin Sorrow and wife, Karen all of Calhoun Falls, SC; sister-in-laws, Carolyn Sorrow of Hodges, SC and Wilda Sorrow of Greenville, SC.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ida Lee Sorrow; brothers, Rudolph and Leroy Sorrow.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends J. Floyd Stansell, Jr., Ben Edwards, J. C. Sorrow, and Bishop Ronald Moore. Interment will follow in Old Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
