Richard Howard Allen died November 7, 2017 from a work-related injury. Rich was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 27, 1943 to the late Howard and Jean Allen. A former optician, Rich was a general contractor for the last 30 years. He lived in the greater Atlanta area before retiring with his wife, Marilyn, to Lake Hartwell in Fair Play, SC. He and Marilyn were high school sweethearts and were married for 54 years. Rich enjoyed showing his Tennessee Walking horses, boating and spending time with his friends and family. His quick wit and quality skills as a home remodeler made him someone that his neighbors and friends relied on and will truly miss. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; son, Mark (Terri), daughter, Denise (Scott), and his five grandchildren Jessica, Megan, Jackson, Caroline and Kieran. Rich is also survived by his brother, John Allen of Lockport, NY, and his sister Diann Brownell of Alexander, NY. In honor of Rich's request, the family is celebrating his memory in a private ceremony.
