Richard Ballenger Dorn, Junior (Little Richard), 31, beloved son, brother and dear friend to those whose lives he touched, passed away September 5th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Little Richard was born April 28th, 1992, to Richard and Eleanor Dorn.
Little Richard was a lifelong resident of Belton. He was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Construction Science and Management. He was a lifelong member of Belton Presbyterian Church. After graduating, he worked for Triangle Construction, Sherman Construction, and Baker Retrievers.
Little Richard had a great love for the outdoors particularly hunting, dog training and cold weather. Little Richard was rarely seen without his faithful sidekick Cap and are surely side by side in a duck blind in heaven now. Little Richard had a gentle, calm spirit and treasured spending time with his family and friends. He had a very unique sense of humor and laugh that we already miss tremendously. The strength he exhibited over the past 10 months was an inspiration to many.
He is survived by his parents, brother Joe Dorn and wife Ellie, paternal grandparents Jane and Pat Dorn, Uncle Walt Dorn (Elizabeth), Aunt Elizabeth Wardlaw (Field), and cousins Patrick Dorn, Laura Dorn, Margaret Dorn, Lee Wardlaw and Lucy Wardlaw.
He was predeceased by maternal grandparents Elva and Joe Park, an Aunt Beth Park, and his best buddy Captain (Cap).
The family is humbled and thankful to all the friends and family that offered steadfast support in numerous ways which allowed them to be at Little Richard's side during this 10 month journey.
The family is forever grateful for the love and care given to Little Richard by the staff of Tulane Medical, particularly his nurse practitioner Olivia; his team at The Shepherd Center- Matt, Tierra, Lexee, Yasmine, Annie, Sara, Adrienne, Quan, Kathryn, Meredith, and Beth; and the ENTIRE staff of The Rainey Hospice House. We love you all.
The family will host a visitation at their home, 720 Brown Ave., Belton, SC, on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 6:30-8:30 pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Belton.
