HAYES March 17, 1920 - October 29, 2007ANDERSON, SCMr. Richard Calhoun Hayes, age 87, formerly of 485 Creamer Road, died Monday, October 29, 2007 at Brookside Living Center.Born in Hart County, GA on March 17, 1920, Mr. Hayes was a son of the late Gus Hayes and Annie Elgin Hayes. He worked almost 30 years for Haskell Hayes Construction Company and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of West Anderson Church of God.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eula Bell Simmons Hayes: sons, Richard L. Hayes and his wife, Loretta; Edgar S. Hayes; Tony M. Hayes; Wayne Hayes, all of Anderson, SC and Roy C. Hayes of Greenville; daughters, Virginia Hayes and Juanita Hayes Saxon, both of Anderson; sisters, Vera H. Ashley of Iva, Rachel H. Dickson of Honea Path, Idelia 'Dee' H. Dockins and Louise H. Brooks, both of Anderson; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend John Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.The family will be at their respective homes.Flowers are optional.
