RICHARD LAWRENCE NICHOLS December 27, 1938 - June 8, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Richard Lawrence Nichols, age 73, husband of Cathy Ann Coyle Nichols, of Anderson, died on Friday, June 8, 2012, at AnMed Health Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold L. Nichols, Sr. and his mother, Mildred Lane Nichols Carrell. Richard was a private business owner for many years. He was a dedicated, loving and caring husband, father and friend. He was a United States Army Veteran and a lifetime train enthusiast. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters, Barbara Shugars of Aldie, VA, Dorothy Gardner of Ware, MA, and Tina Anderson and her husband Pete of Glen Allen, VA; stepchildren, David McLendon and his wife Ana of Atlanta, GA and Heather McLendon of Sterling, VA; grandchildren, Ryan Shugars of Leesburg, VA, Kyle Shugars of Aldie, VA, Sofia Anderson of Glen Allen, VA and Sam Anderson of Glen Allen, VA; brothers, Harold L. Nichols, Jr. and his wife Angie of Arnold, MD; Charles L. Nichols and his wife Carroll of Arlington, TN. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson. The Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Nichols will follow at 2:00pm in the Chapel at the funeral home. Following the Graveside service at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, there will be a reception in the fellowship hall at North Anderson Baptist Church across from the funeral home until 6:00pm.
