Main Street Anderson, SC 29621 864-224-4343OBITUARY RICHARD JOSEPH SCHAWE ANDERSON, SCRichard Joseph Schawe (Dick), age 79.Dick was born in Hamilton, Ohio, son of Edwin and Alberta Herre Schawe.Dick graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1946, from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1951, and obtained his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Xavier University in 1961.On June 20, 1953, Dick married Mary Jo Murphy. Dick was Vice President and General Manager of The Vaughn Building Company for 33 years. He then was Manager of Construction for Champion Papers and followed as General Manager for Gebhart Construction. When he relocated to Anderson, South Carolina, Dick was an adjunct teacher at Tri County Technical College for many years.During his life, Dick was active in the Lions Club, President of the Hamilton Ohio Exchange Club, and a member of the Kiwanis and Golden Kiwanis in Anderson, South Carolina. He served on the Board of the Hamilton YMCA and the Fort Hamilton Hospital, and was also a member of the St. Joseph Men's Club. He was a Master Gardener and loved gardening and playing golf. Dick was a devoted family man. He leaves his widow, Mary Jo, children, Maribeth McCumber (Ed) of Anderson, SC, Rick Schawe (Judy) of Huntingdon, PA, Terry Schawe (Barbara) of Hamilton, OH and Kristin Greenway (Tony) of Anderson, SC and the loves of his life, 8 grandchildren: Matthew and Andrew McCumber, Kate and Jeff Schawe, Rick and Jenny Schawe and Nick and Jack Greenway. He also leaves his sisters, Joan Imfeld (Bert) and Nancy Fischer (Tom) of Hamilton, OH and many nieces and a nephew.He was a gentle man of integrity and will be missed by many.The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 11:00 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
