Smart of 1311 Cobbs Glen Drive, Anderson, SC, died Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at his residence.Born in Batavia, New York on December 20, 1935, Mr. Smart was a son of the late Leo Smart and Katherine Greenbaum Smart. He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from BASF with 24 ' years of service. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Joyce W. Smart of the home; sons, Thomas Smart and Raymond Smart, both of New York and Richard Smart, Jr., of Harrisburg, VA; daughters, Kathy Rogan and Dixie Smart, both of New York; step-son, Jeff Pike of Anderson, SC; step-daughters, Nancy Sorrow, Sheila Holcombe and Sherry Moore all of Anderson, SC. Eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Faye Stephens. Interment will follow in Neals Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 5, 2007 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.Memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 135 Riley Street, Anderson, SC 29624 or Agape Community Hospice, 300 B.
