He was a United States Army Veteran. He moved to Anderson, SC in 2005. and was the co- owner and operator of MR Tech Safety Services. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Michael Stroening, of Anderson, Licia S. Matkin, of Anderson, Marjorie Stickles and her husband Steven, of Canton GA., Dawn Gienap and her husband Brian of Dallas GA. Eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in by a son, Richard A. Stroening Jr., and two brothers. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 4:00 pm, at The McDougalds Funeral Home Chapel.
