Richard Leland Williamson, age 85, of Belton, SC, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

Born December 13, 1938, in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late William Prue Williamson and Louise Kay Willamson. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Gerald, Larry, and Aubrey Williamson; and sister, Beth Watson.

Leland was a graduate of Honea Path High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force being stationed at Oak Ridge Military Base. He attended Anderson College and Baptist College of Charleston and earned his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Following his education, he served as a supply pastor for numerous churches and enjoyed a 5-year tenure as pastor of Sandy Springs Baptist Church in Pelzer. In 1980 he began a 30-year career as a financial advisor with The Equitable until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Belton where he was an active leader and faithful Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41-½ years, Gail Browning Williamson; sons, Richard A. Williamson (Tanya), Tim Williamson (Kristy) and Dean McCuen; sister, Elaine Dempsey (Buddy); and grandchildren, Katie Williamson, Emily Williamson, Mastin Williamson, Calaway Williamson Wright (Elliott), and Zoe McCuen.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Williamson Family Cemetery, 400 Wright School Rd., Belton, SC, with Rev. Nick Kirby and Mr. Randy Fagg officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service graveside.
