Ricky Delano Freeman, age 66, widower of the late Janice "Jan" Hembree Freeman, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Anderson Regional Airport.
Born in Easley, he was the son of the late Perry Wilton Freeman, Sr. and the late Louise Shirley Freeman. He graduated from Easley High School and from the Air Traffic Control School in Oklahoma. After high school he joined and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller and a mechanic at the Greenville Downtown Airport, at White Aviation at the Anderson Regional Airport, and at Lockheed Martin at the Donaldson Center in Greenville, SC. Ricky was an avid lover of all things aviation related and would help families in need by flying them to various hospitals. He was a lover of animals and a mechanic of everything.
He is survived by his children, Kristi Freeman, Shea Jordan and her husband Jon and Gina Freeman; a granddaughter, Bella Jordan; a sister, Dana Freeman Lassiter and her husband Joe; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Perry W. Freeman, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Anderson Regional Airport on Friday, September 4, 2015, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will follow at 3:30 p.m., at the airport.
