Obituary

Rev. Dr. Robert "Robbie" Garrett, Jr., 63, went home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2025.

Robbie held a B.A. in Business and an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Bob Jones University, as well as a Doctorate from Southwest Bible College and Seminary.

On Robbie's Christian journey in full-time ministry over the past 40 years, he faithfully served the Lord through his God-gifted talents of preaching/teaching, singing, and playing musical instruments. He was a mouthpiece for deity and a defender of the scriptures.

He loved people, and he was always a visionary when challenged with growing a ministry that God had given him. He often said, "You are either a camper (sit still), quitter (give up), or a climber" for the cause of Christ. Robbie was definitely a Climber…

Reaching New Heights was his mantra. Robbie was never able to settle for the status quo.

Robbie's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched as he served all ages in eight churches across South Carolina, Michigan, North Carolina, and Colorado. He particularly enjoyed the ministry of Celebrate Recovery. A couple of the church names sum it up—Grace, Good Hope, and GraceView.

We have this incredible Good Hope in Jesus Christ in the View of God's Grace and mercy… Blessed be the name of our Lord and Savior. All the glory, power, and praise go to our Almighty God. AMEN.

Robbie is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Pamela Bayne Garrett, who faithfully served beside him in ministry and walked through life with him. Robbie so loved his family! He leaves behind his loving siblings: Penny Garrett Crowell (Drew), Sherri Garrett Settle (Mike), and Rusty Neal Garrett; and his beloved mother-in-law, Marilyn French; and brother-in-law, Monty Bayne (Michelle). Treasured by his extended family, he is survived by many loving aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins…

all share fond memories of times together and the quick wit Robbie possessed.

Among those who will miss Robbie the most is Little Bit, Robbie and Pam's adorable fur "baby".  She and her Daddy spent every waking and sleeping hour together.

Robbie was predeceased by his parents, JoAnn Neal Garrett and Robert "R.D." Garrett, Sr., and his eldest sister, Cindy Leigh Garrett Wilson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at GraceView Church with Rev. Dr. David Pickens officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Donations may be made to Celebrate Recovery – Honea Path First Baptist Church, 100 S. Main St., Honea Path, SC 29654.
