(Bob) Altman, Sr., died at the Hospice House on Thursday, September 28, 2006. He was born in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Textile Engineering. He was a member of Phi Psi Honorary Fraternity.He served in World War II. He graduated from Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and served four years as a Lieutenant in that branch of service. He spent his entire working career with West Point Manufacturing Company and West Point Pepperrell. He retired as Plant Manger of Equinox Mill. He was very active in community activities, both in Anderson and Lanett, Alabama. He was active member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Elder and Clerk of Session for 16 years. He attended the 100th General Assembly meeting of the Presbyterian Church, as well as the 200th. He was a member and past director of Anderson Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow; Member and past chairman of the Salvation Army board; member of the Advisory Board of the Textile Technology Department of Tri-County Tech, where he served as an adjunct professor for 12 years; past Chairman of the Plant Managers Division of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturing Association; past Chairman of the Anderson United Way; past member of the board of Trustees of Anderson Memorial Hospital; and past member of the Anderson Chamber of Commerce and the Vocational Rehabilitation Center.He is survived by his wife, Lillian Blakely Altman, of the home; a son, Robert L. Altman, Jr., and his much-loved daughter-in-law, Sandra; his pride and joy ' his two granddaughters, Amy and Kim of Anderson; one sister, Minnie McCray, of Lubbock, Texas; his sister-in-law, Edna B. Elkins of Pasadena, California; and two nieces, Suzanne Elkins of Philadelphia and Jeanmarie Stewart of Glendale, California, and her husband, Bill.The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Dennis Tedder. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, October 1, 2006 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.PAGE TWO Flowers are optional.
