Robert Allen Broome, age 96, of Anderson, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Born June 29, 1927, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Ben Tillman Broome and Amanda Smith Broome. He was married to Virginia Belle Ransom Broome until her death in 2004.

Bob was a retired home builder and a member of Temple Baptist Church. He had a love for motorcycles and dancing, but nothing matched the love he had for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Ann Broome and Patti Delores Broome Dove (Tim); five grandchildren, Sommer Goldsmith (Alan), Buck Hayes (Jessica), Hunter Broome (Jami), Jade Dove, and Levi Dove; 10 great grandchildren; nephew, Ray Broome (Loretta); and very special friends, Williard and Lottie Rainey.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 12:00 pm at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Hurte, Rev. Mark Daniel, and Rev. Don Defino officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Those serving as pallbearers include Ray Broome, Hunter Broome, Buck Hayes, Levi Dove, Alan Goldsmith, Randall Coffee, and Tim Dove.

In honor of Bob and his love for motorcycles, the family would extend an invitation to anyone who rides to participate in the processional from Temple Baptist Church to the cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted.
