Born in Spartanburg on May 19, 1941, he was the son of the late J.B. Eaker and Grace Tipton Eaker.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Frankie Lay Eaker; a son, Robert Lee Eaker, Jr. of Anderson; a daughter, Pamela Nell Eaker of Anderson; a stepdaughter, Heather McKenzie (Kevin) and three grandchildren, Ryleigh, Landry, and Henry all of Seneca; sisters, Ann Atwell of Enoree, Kate Farris of Spartanburg, and Kathy Frye of Chesnee; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Upon graduating high school, Bob went into the Air Force for three years and nine months and was given an honorable discharge related to the fact that Donaldson Center closed after he was transferred there. He then went to work for Norfolk Southern Corporation where he worked for forty-nine years and eight months. He was a locomotive engineer and took much pride in his skills and was a wonderful provider. Additionally, he owned a business for 20 years called HIS Enterprises. Bob or "Poppy" as he was affectionately known to his grandchildren, enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing, hunting, and running. He ran three marathons in his lifetime.
Special gratitude is extended to Stephanie McCann who was so faithful in her duties caring for Bob, Home Instead, and the kind nurses of Crescent Hospice who provided wonderful care for him.
