Robert D. Garrison, born and raised in Anderson, SC, passed away December 8, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Bolt Garrison; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Daniel Garrison and Carrie Welden Garrison; sister, Margie Garrison Sallies (Robert C. Sallies) of Norway, ME; and brother-in-law, David Bolt, Sr. (Anita Bolt) of Anderson, SC.
He was predeceased by parents, Earl H. Garrison and Elizabeth Boggs Garrison; siblings: Etherlene G. Watson (William E. Watson) of Anderson, SC; Frances G. Conner (Charles A., Conner Jr.) of Lexington, VA; James E. Garrison (Patricia Bowen Garrison) of Gainesville, Ga.
Robert was a Professional Licensed SC Land Surveyor. He worked for D. Gordon Casey Surveying for years and later opened his own business, R. D. Garrison Surveying. After retirement, he worked on riding lawn mowers as a hobby. As a young man, he could repair almost any type of car, lawn mower, or anything mechanical or electrical. He loved his family, his Labradoodle, Gabe, and watching Gunsmoke on TV.
Funeral Services will be held at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 1 P.M. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. The service will be conducted by Rev. Travis Bryan pastor of Andersonville Baptist Church, Rev. Bruce W. Evans, (retired pastor) of Andersonville Baptist Church, and Rev. Dr. Robert C. Sallies of Norway ME.
A private burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in memory of Robert, to Andersonville Baptist Church, 6902 Dobbins Bridge Road, Anderson, SC 29626 or Rainey Hospice House at https://hospiceoftheupstate.com/rainey-hospice-house/
Robert fought a long, hard battle with lung cancer for almost three years. The family would like to thank all his doctors, nurses, and caregivers for their excellent care and concern.
